A resident on McCollister Drive notified the District Offices of a mountain lion captured on their home security camera earlier this week.
TVDO contacted Game and Fish, who confirmed mountain lion activity is common in the valley. Upon a visit to the neighborhood, Game & Fish felt there was no reason for the Lion to stick around, and was hopeful it was passing through.
They did ask us to remind residents,
-While attacks on humans are rare, residents should be vigilant of their surroundings, especially with loose pets.
-Bear spray can be used in self defense situations.
-Lions are usually active during low light periods; reducing stalking cover around homes and installing motion sensor lights can be a effective deterrent.
If you have a sighting please feel free to email the office@tetonvillagewy.gov.
If a mountain lion, or other wildlife, become a problem please contact Game & Fish directly at (307) 733-2321.
