SUMMARY:Concerts on the Commons September 1 and 8 - Free
DESCRIPTION:Sunday September 1 and 8\, starting at 5 pm in the Commons- Free! Check Concerts website for more details. \nSeptember 1 The Waiting with Fairweather \nThe Waiting is a rock ‘n roll band that celebrates the music of Tom Petty. Not exactly a “tribute” band\, The Waiting is—in the spirit of The Heartbreakers—first and foremost a BAND: a motley mix of musicians and friends interpreting the songs of one of rock’s greatest songwriters and musicians\, the legendary Tom Petty. The band’s motto is “We bring the Petty to your town\,” and since 2013 they’ve been doing exactly that. Whether it’s one of Tom Petty’s smash hits with the Heartbreakers\, a sampling from his solo albums\, or even a collaboration with the Traveling Wilburys\, The Waiting runs the gamut\, performing each tune with undeniable\, fiery live energy and a devotion to showing each person in the crowd a damn good time. We think Tom would approve! \nwith Fairweather \nSeptember 8 The High Hawks with JCB Plays the Music of Jerry Garcia Band \nThe High Hawks are a group of musical friends who hail from various jam and Americana bands: Vince Herman\, frontman and festival ring leader from Leftover Salmon; Tim Carbone\, ace fiddler and multi-instrumentalist from Railroad Earth; Adam Greuel\, ring leader and guitarist from Horseshoes & Hand Grenades; Chad Staehly\, keyboardist from Hard Working Americans; Brian Adams bassist for DeadPhish Orchestra; and Will Trask\, drummer from Great American Taxi. The six musicians/raconteurs were looking for a way to play music together\, so they formed The High Hawks in 2019 and released their eponymous debut in 2021. “We have a real common musical bond\, and we just wanted to find a reason to hang out as birds of a feather and play tunes with each other\,” Herman explains. The band will release its second full length album\, Mother Nature’s Show\, on February 16\, 2024\, via indie roots label LoHi Records. \n\n\n\n\n\nwith JCB plays the music of Jerry Garcia Band \n\n\n\n\n\n
